JVC 2James Vella Clark (B. 1975) is one of Malta's main exponents of Expressionism in Malta. Although his landscapes are rendered using an abstract idiom, they still retain a familiarity with which the viewer can establish a primary relationship. On the other hand, his abstract works are highly charged with Mediterranean boldness, spontaneity and passion that doesn't only reflect the artist's own personal character, yet constantly attempts to establish a spiritual connection between the artist and his work.

Besides his work featuring in a number of solo exhibitions and group shows in Malta, James has also exhibited abroad and a number of his larger and more important works form part of local and foreign private collections. His latest projects included participation in a collective exhibition in aid of Hospice Malta, participation in the 'Selfie' exhibition with his latest self-portrait, and one of his most recent landscapes, 'Marsamxett', features on Perugina's Xeni tal-Belt Valletta limited edition chocolates.

The artist resides and works in Valletta.
