Alex Attard is a fine art photographer who works mainly on personal projects, particularly, but not exclusively, on architecture related series.
Born in Valletta, into a family who has been working in photography since 1913, he received his initial photographic education through his grandfather at the family studio.
In 2007, after a hiatus of over twenty-five years, he felt the urge to pick up his camera again and embrace the digital era. He studied the art of the digital print as he strived to equal the visual expressive qualities of film through this new medium.
His body of work, "The Overlooked Performance", chronicling unconscious behavior and recording the ephemeral art beneath the face of Renzo Piano's new Parliament for Valletta is, arguably, one of the most acknowledged local contemporary photographic expressions.
His innate sense of creativity and the very personal interpretation of his subjects have won him critical acclaim at the highest level and his work has been awarded by widely recognised experts in the industry.
